Unable to invoke a pipeline from another pipeline in MS Fabric

Hi Team,

We are trying to create a Master pipeline where it tries to invoke another generic pipeline(Preview) to process data of multiple tables in a loop. The process was working before but suddenly, the master pipeline is started failing to invoke the pipeline and the error given by Fabric(as shown below) is not useful at all in identifying the root cause.

So instead of invoke pipeline(preview) activity, I changed it to invoke pipeline(legacy) activity. it succeeded. I am not sure what the issue with Preview version of the invoke pipeline.

Can anyone help?

Hi @sgb_fabric,

Invoke pipeline (legacy) supports calling pipelines only within the workspace while the preview version can call pipelines from other workspaces as well.

The preview version is still under development and they are trying to fix an issue with 'Pipeline Return Value'. As such, there is a possibility that your pipeline failure might be actually a bug from MS side (since preview versions are not stable)

Hi @sgb_fabric ,

as far as I know, one major difference between the legacy Invoke activity and the new one (which is currently in preview) is that the new activity makes use of data connections to realize the link to the desired pipeline, even if the pipeline is residing within the same Fabric workspace.

In the Fabric settings --> Manage connections and gateways, you can configure a connection to your pipeline and then use it in you Invoke activity.

I hope this helps!

We have created a connection and added the required permissions to all the members in our team. However, the pipeline is still failing while invoking Invoke Pipeline(preview) version. We are wondering why it is still not able to execute the pipeline.
