Renaming columns in data warehouse tables

Can columns names in data warehouse tables be changed?  If so, what is the correct way? sp_rename is not supported, apparently. And I have not found any definitive answers.

@ebjim At the moment it looks like a sp_rename is mentioned as limitations seems not supported..check out the reference article below

Any idea if RENAME OBJECT is supported? No mention of that in the article.
