Hi everyone,
I have a layout scenario in Power BI Report Builder (Paginated Report):
Table 1 โ contains a large dataset, so I want it to have its own scrollbar (scroll inside that section only).
Table 2 โ much smaller summary table that I want to stay fixed below Table 1.
I want both tables to appear on the same report page, similar to how in Tableau we can use a vertical container (so Table 1 scrolls inside the container and Table 2 stays fixed below it).
Is there a way to achieve this in Report Builder?
Iโve tried using rectangles, tablix properties like CanGrow, and adjusting page sizes, but I havenโt been able to replicate the scrollable container behavior.
My goal:
View the report in Power BI Service (web view) with Table 1 scrollable and Table 2 fixed underneath, both on the same page.
Export behavior (PDF, Excel, etc.) is secondary.
Any ideas, best practices, or workarounds (like using rectangles or subreports) would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance
Hi @prabavathym,
Paginated reports are designed around being able to print them, hence the paginated part, so interactive elements like scrolling boxes aren't possible in paginated reports.
If a printer can't print it, then a paginated report is not designed to render it.
For this behaviour, use Power BI Desktop instead of Report Builder.

Thanks, @tayloramy โ got it!
My scenario: like in Tableau, I want one table scrollable and another fixed below, but still printable.
so only im looking for workaround in report builder.
Hi @prabavathym,
Unfortunately that's not possible with report builder. Paginated reports don't have interactive elements by design as when it is printed there would be missing data where the interactive element is.
Is your goal to print the report while only showing the top X rows of the first table?

Hi @prabavathym
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.
I would also take a moment to thankโฏ @tayloramy , for actively participating in the community forum and for the solutions youโve been sharing in the community forum. Your contributions make a real difference.
As mentioned above, paginated reports in Power BI Report Builder are designed for page-based layouts meant for printing or exporting. Because of this, they donโt support interactive elements like scrollable regions or containers the entire tablix expands based on the number of rows returned.
If you need the scrolling/interactive behavior (like in Tableau or Power BI Desktop visuals), that would only be achievable in the Power BI Desktop environment, not within paginated reports.
