Exploring data in Fabric Data Warehouse and Lakehouse in Azure Data Explorer

I want to explore and run queries on data present in Fabric Data Warehouse or Lakehouse in Azure Data Explorer without actually ingesting the data into ADX. Is there any way to use Fabric tables as external tables in Azure Data Explorer?

Hi  @vivek_goli  ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

If your Lakehouse data in OneLake is in Delta format, you might be able to query it from Azure Data Explorer (ADX) using the external_table() function, which is currently in preview. This lets you read the data without fully importing it into ADX.
Currently, Azure Data Explorer (ADX) doesn't support directly querying tables from Fabric Data Warehouse or Lakehouse as external tables unless the data is ingested or connected through supported sources.

Hi @vivek_goli ,

Really sorry for the previous documentation. Currently, Azure Data Explorer (ADX) doesn't support directly querying tables from Fabric Data Warehouse or Lakehouse as external tables unless the data is ingested or connected through supported sources.
If your Lakehouse data in OneLake is in Delta format, you might be able to query it from Azure Data Explorer (ADX) using the external_table() function, which is currently in preview. Which may take few days.

Thank you.

I tried to load but did not find an option to load external tables from Fabric or ADLS gen2

Hi @vivek_goli ,

Since you're not seeing the option to load external tables from Fabric or ADLS Gen2, there could be a configuration or permission-related issue specific to your environment. To get this resolved quickly and accurately, I recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft. The support team will be able to investigate your setup in detail and guide you through the necessary steps.

Please refer below link on how to raise a contact support or support ticket.
