Dear all
I created a semantic model in Fabric. When I use e.g. the Date_DIM table in a new dashboard connected to my semantic model, I am not able to use the "Sort by column" option for a specific column.
It does neither work in PBI Desktop nor is there an option within the Fabric GUI where I work on the semantic model.
Any ideas, suggestions?
Thanks
Christian

Hi @webchris
Apologies for the delay in response.
I have created a semantic model and able to see the "sort by column" option for all the columns. Please find the screenshots for reference.
Are you able to see the above mentioned options or not?
Can you please confirm this?
Thanks.
Hi @webchris
Thanks for using Microsoft Fabric Community.
Apologies for the issue that you are facing here.
Below are the few potential root causes that might be the reason for the issue that you are not able to use the "Sort by column" option for a specific column.
1. Data Type Incompatibility: Sorting typically works with text, numbers, and dates. Incompatible types (e.g., binary data) might not allow sorting. Ensure the column has a compatible data type.
2. Column Role Restrictions: Sorting might be limited for columns designated as measures in the semantic model. Check if the column's role allows sorting.
3. Data Issues: Inconsistent or incorrectly formatted data in the Date_DIM table could hinder sorting. Ensure data in the Date_DIM table is consistent and formatted correctly.
I hope this helps. Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks for your reply. The problem does not seem to be related to field types. It is the case for all columns which come from the semantic model.
Thanks
Christian
