Fabric SQL database - slow queries

Hi,

I am having trouble when using a SQL database in Fabric - it is taking a very long time to complete queries.

For example, when selecting all rows (<10) from a table with less than 10 columns, it is taking 40 seconds to complete:

I can see that the query execution time itself is very quick, but there seems to be a 20 second buffer before and after the query is completed.

A similar thing happens when perform other operations, such as creating/altering a stored procedure, inserting/deleting records - always around 40 seconds to complete.

For reference, I am currently operating on an F2 capacity. I sometimes find that when I first complete such a query on a given day, it will run quickly, but any subsequent queries are very slow (as above).

Is this a capacity issue, or perhaps expected behaviour?

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi @JamesMurkin1 , sorry to hear about the slow experience. Could you please create a support ticket and provide your Fabric Tenant, Workspace and Database ID information in the supporte request for our support team to look at the telemetry to help troubleshoot. It could be an F2 capacity as it might be throttling but 10 rows returning for 10 cols in 40s is not normal and not expected behavior. Appreciate your patience and support.
